Rich autumnal hues, interesting textures and stylish urns were the themes for this workshop.

Guests learnt how to use their urns in a variety of ways and how the different mechanics used within the urn altered the look and style of the arrangement. All chose to use chicken wire to achieve the more informal and natural look.

The Cherry Brandy roses were the stars of the show, standing out beautifully against the smoke bush and oak foliage. Karma Chocolate dahlia’s, hydrangea, rose hips, scabious and poppy seed heads completed the look.

And of course we then dined in style with a superb Hinds Head lunch.

The Hinds Head was awash with flowers at the British Flowers Summer Floral workshop in June 2015. The workshop, which coincided with British Flowers Week at New Covent Garden Flower Market, focused on British Flowers; creating hand tied bouquets; and understanding flower shapes and how to combine them.

We were delighted to be joined by Jane MacFarlane Duckworth from The Flower Union and she fascinated us with her thoughts on British flowers, their benefits and qualities and the growers she represents. The Flower Union supplied us with beautiful scented stocks, peonies, astrantia, Queen Anne’s Lace, beech and smoke bush which we spiralled to our hearts content!

The second half of the day was spent feasting with a delicious three course lunch and the ever-outstanding service at The Hinds Head.
