Overlooking the stunning South Hams coastline, Gara Rock Hotel is perched unassumingly in the most idyllic location. Its chic and elegantly styled rooms and interiors have deservedly earned it the title of Devon’s coolest coastal hotel and quite possibly this also applies to H&H, being the most stylish of clients!
We loved working with H&H and their dreamy brief of autumnal rusts and toffees with parchment and blush tones, and we honed our designs to give them sophisticated and artistic elegance. Months of planning and weeks of execution; from designing and styling, to sourcing containers, candles and ribbons, to gathering flowers and materials from our network of growers and local suppliers; this was one very carefully curated wedding!
For this early November wedding we used roses, and from our local Devon and Cornish growers, dahlias, cosmos, chrysanthemums, veronica, snowberry, scabious, zinnias, narcissi and campanula. We picked all the foliage from within a few miles of our studio – from our land and local estates/landowners (with whom we have agreements). It was such a beautiful autumnal journey watching the trees and shrubs over the preceding weeks, to find which would be at the exact turning point to fit the colour palette.
As usual in our work we focused on sustainability. We do not use floral foam/oasis (it is not biodegradable) and focus on British flowers as much as possible. Also, after this wedding, the flowers not taken by the family were repurposed and take to St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth for patients to enjoy in their rooms.
Thank you to Carla at The Unbridled, for her glorious photography which mastered the fading light and warm glow of the late autumn day and evening.
