This wedding was a celebration of early summer with a focus on ‘simple, natural and elegant’, for this understated couple who married at the infamous Burgh Island hotel in South Devon. We’re well practiced at negotiating the tidal idiosyncrasies of this island venue and loved bringing our British flowers to pair with the Art Deco hotel styling and then riding home on the iconic sea tractor.
We used whimsical soft June-time flowers in pale neutrals, and gathered the flowers and foliage from our Devon and Cornish growers (all within 30 miles of our studio), our own cutting garden and from a Welsh garden rose grower.
The beautiful Palm Court Lounge (with its gorgeous coloured-glass dome ceiling) and The Nettlefold room were dressed with flowing urns of early summer – garden roses, sweet peas, philadelphus, and trailing vines – and we created a ceremony aisle of meadowy displays. In The Ballroom we used delicate flower bowls and Ikebana-inspired designs on the dining tables to complete the romantic feel
The bride wore a simple, elegant 1920s style dress with lace detailing, so we used soft and delicate flowers in her bouquet which was finished with trailing silk ribbons.
